Steve Broussard, UCLA running backs coach, has been fired, according to a person in the athletic department  who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Broussard spent two seasons at UCLA after coming from Arizona State with offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone.

UCLA finished 37th nationally among 123 Football Bowl Division teams in rushing this season, averaging 190.8 yards. The Bruins weathered significant injuries, one to Jordon James, who was the nation’s fifth-leading rusher when he suffered a sprained ankle in the fourth game.

UCLA was 38th nationally in 2012, averaging 196.6 yards.

The Bruins were able to land only one running back as a recruit in Coach Jim Mora’s first two classes, Craig Lee, who sat out as a redshirt this season. Fabian Moreau came to UCLA as a running back but was immediately switched to cornerback.
