Watch Kyle Larson shove his way to a NASCAR win [Video]

February 19, 2013|By Jim Peltz

Already considered perhaps the best prospect in NASCAR, 20-year-old driver Kyle Larson is starting to prove he's also one of the most aggressive.

Running second in a minor-league NASCAR race at Daytona International Speedway on Monday night, the Elk Grove, Calif., native simply shoved the leader in front of him, C.E. Falk, out of the way on the last turn of the final lap.

In fact, Larson had to bump Falk twice before Falk spun out, clearing the way for Larson to take the checkered flag.

"It's the first race I've ever won in that manner, but this was a pretty big race," Larson said. "I feel bad for [Falk], but like I said, I wanted to win."

Falk said Larson "got me once and I thought I was going to be OK. Finally, he just finished us off."

After mostly racing sprints, midgets and other "open-wheel" cars, Larson turned to stock cars last year and immediately excelled, drawing raves from such NASCAR stars as Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.

This month, it was announced that Larson would keep climbing the NASCAR ladder by competing this year in the sport's Nationwide Series, which is just one step below its premier Sprint Cup Series.
