NBA TV will join the Time Warner Cable SportsNet and TWC Deportes in offering live coverage of the services for former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss at 3 p.m. PST on Thursday.

An NBA TV spokesman said his network will use the Time Warner feed but felt it would be appropriate to televise so viewers outside of the Los Angeles area could also watch the services.

[Updated, 12:48 p.m. PST Feb. 21: The Times' Lakers Now blog plans to host a live-stream of the memorial service at 3 p.m. L.A. television stations KTLA-5 and KCAL-9 also will broadcast the service live, and other local stations might show all or part of the event.]

Buss, who bought the Lakers, the Kings, the Forum and a ranch in 1979 for $67 million from Jack Kent Cooke, died Monday of kidney failure after a long battle with an undisclosed cancer.

The list of speakers: AEG executive Tim Leiweke, Johnny Buss, Buss business associate Frank Mariani, David Stern, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Phil Jackson, Pau Gasol, Pat Riley, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.

There will also be three musical interludes performed by Randy Newman, Davis Gaines and the USC marching band.

The event is for invited guests only and selected media members.
