The chilling message was among the tweets quickly sent by fans at the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Daytona Beach, Fla., where a wild crash Saturday sent debris flying into the stands, injuring at least 28 people. Tweets and images below.
The Los Angeles Times' Jim Peltz is reporting on the scene in Daytona Beach. Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood said 14 fans were treated at the scene and 14 were taken to local hospitals, the Associated Press reported.
Fans and journalists caught photos of the engine of the car driven by Californian Kyle Larson in the spectator area, as well as a tire that landed several rows up into the grandstand.
