HBO's "Game Change" won a Golden Globe for best miniseries or motion picture made for television Sunday night.
Adapted from Mark Halperin and John Heilemann's bestselling nonfiction account of the 2008 election, "Game Change" also picked up four Emmys in September. Directed by Jay Roach, it stars Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Ed Harris as Sen. John McCain and Woody Harrelson as political strategist Steve Schmidt.
"Game Change" beat out "The Girl" (HBO), "Hatfields & McCoys" (History), "The Hour" (BBC America) and "Political Animals" (USA).

Created by Greg Berlanti, "Political Animals" features Sigourney Weaver as a Hillary Rodham Clinton-esque former first lady who divorces her philandering husband and goes on to become secretary of State after a failed gubernatorial bid. In November, USA announced that it would not be making future episodes of the soapy drama, which was originally billed as a limited-run series.
"The Hour" is set behind the scenes at a fictional BBC news program launching against the backdrop of the 1956 Suez crisis. It stars Dominic West as the show's dashing anchor, Romola Garai as its spirited producer and Ben Whishaw as an idealistic reporter. "The Hour" is now in its second season on BBC America, but, like "Downton Abbey" before it, was submitted as a miniseries.
"The Girl" looks at the troubled relationship between legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and leading lady Tippi Hedren during the production of the suspense classic "The Birds." One of two biopics about Hitchcock to be released this year, it stars Toby Jones and Sienna Miller.
The three-part "Hatfields & McCoys" was a ratings smash for History, racking up 14 million viewers a week and becoming the second most-watched entertainment program in basic cable history. It starred Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton as the patriarchs of the famously feuding 19th century clans.
The Golden Globes were being held Sunday at the Beverly Hilton and were being televised on NBC.
