The Middle: Frankie and Mike (Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn) devote one full day of a three-day weekend to each of their kids (Charlie McDermott, Atticus Shaffer and Eden Sher) in this new episode (8 p.m. ABC).

American Idol:  Hopefuls audition for the judges in New York in the season premiere (8 p.m. Fox).

Criminal Minds: Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) girlfriend is abducted by her stalker in this new episode Michelle Trachtenberg guest stars (9 p.m. CBS).

Modern Family: Jay and Gloria (Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara) give Manny (Rico Rodriguez) a surprise birthday party in this new episode (9 p.m. ABC).

Ghost Hunters: The TAPS team uses more technology than ever before to capture evidence of paranormal activity as they launch a new season with an episode titled "Hollywood Horror Stories" (9 p.m. Syfy). Then at 10 p.m. it's the premiere of "Ghost Mine" a new unscripted series about a reopened gold mine that's said to be haunted (10 p.m. Syfy)

Suburgatory: George (Jeremy Sisto) is run ragged trying to deal with Tessa (Jane Levy), who's recovering from having her wisdom teeth out, in this new episode. Chris Parnell, Ana Gasteyer, Cheryl Hines and Carly Chaikin also star (9:30 p.m. ABC).

Nashville:
As Rayna and Juliette (Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere) prepare for their first arena concert together in San Diego, Rayna realizes how much she needs Deacon (Charles Esten). Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson and Wyclef Jean also star in this new episode (10 p.m. ABC).

Bobby's Dinner Battle: Master chef Bobby Flay home cooks compete to be crowned their city's best. Each team has a limited budget and three hours to create spectacular three-course dinner party (10 p.m. Food).

SPORTS

College basketball: North Carolina State at Maryland (4 p.m. ESPN2); Miami at Boston College (4 p.m. FS Prime); West Virginia at Iowa State (6 p.m. ESPN2); Loyola Marymount at San Diego (7 p.m. TWSN).

Pro basketball: The Houston Rockets visit the Dallas Mavericks (5 p.m. ESPN); the Miami Heat visit the Golden State Warriors (7:30 p.m. ESPN).

Tennis: Australian Open (8 p.m. and midnight ESPN2).
