More than 100 Los Angeles firefighters were battling a huge blaze raging out of control Monday evening in a commercial building in Sun Valley.

Flames and thick clouds of smoke were billowing from the one-story structure in the 9400 block of Telfair Avenue, according to television news footage.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said the building may be vacant and declared the blaze a "major emergency." The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m.

No other details were immediately available.
