'Hollywood Hillbillies': 'Angry Ginger' targets Honey Boo Boo set

July 29, 2013|By Scott Collins

Michael Kittrell, a.k.a. "Angry Ginger," has a new TV show to go along with his much-discussed soul.

Kittrell, the Georgia youth who rose to fame with a YouTube video that attacked "South Park" for joking that redheads have no souls, is set to star in a new reality show, "Hollywood Hillbillies," for ReelzChannel. The network said Monday it will premiere the series in January.

The show is described as a "reality sitcom" that looks to follow the mold of TLC's hit "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which details the exploits of a beauty pageant contestant and her rural Georgia family.

"Hollywood Hillbillies" will reveal the lives of Kittrell and his grandmother, called "Mema" in the YouTube videos, after they leave Georgia and move to California.

Not that Kittrell necessarily needs a TV paycheck. His "Gingers Do Have Souls!" video on YouTube has drawn more than 34 million views since it was posted in 2010.

"I made a lot of money on my YouTube channel," Kittrell told the Associated Press.

What do you think of Kittrell and "Hollywood Hillbillies"?
