The maker of Energizer batteries announced Wednesday it is buying three brands of feminine hygiene products from Johnson & Johnson for $135 million.
St. Louis-based Energizer Holdings Inc. said it would pay cash for the Stayfree, Carefree and o.b. brands. The deal includes a manufacturing plant in Montreal.
Energizer already owns the Playtex feminine-care brand.
"Combining these complementary businesses gives us brands in each of the key feminine-hygiene categories, and the opportunity to innovate by doing what we do best," said Ward Kelin, Energizer's chief executive.
The acquisition is expected to become final next year.
