What's collectively being called the Snow Summit Adventure Park in Big Bear Lake officially opens for summer on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. and a live DJ too. The park has been open since May 25 on weekends only.

New summer activities at the ski resort include a downhill mountain bicycling course with features like the black-rated Miracle Mile and Cruiser trails dotted with berms and other features. The resort also plans to open a blue trail called Westridge and a green beginner run too.

Another new activity that has yet to open: the Flying Squirrel Zip Line that allows participants to zip through the forest at 35 mph side-by-side. The line runs 1,050 feet and costs $20 per person for a single ride.

The mile-long Scenic Sky Chair takes hikers or cyclists up to enjoy views of Big Bear and access trail heads in the San Bernardino National Forest and the Mountain Bike Park. The chair is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except Saturdays when it's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sky Chair rates start at $14 for adults and $7 for children 7 to 15 years old for a round-trip ride without bicycles or a one-way ride with bicycles. An all-day pass for ardent cyclists costs $32 for adults, $20 for children.
