Watch LeBron James accept NBA Finals MVP award

June 21, 2013|By Melissa Rohlin

On Thursday evening, LeBron James won his second consecutive NBA championship and was awarded his second straight Finals MVP award.

After scoring 37 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Heat's 95-88 win over San Antonio in Game 7, James took the microphone amid a cascade of confetti.

"First of all, I want to give a lot of credit to the San Antonio Spurs," James said. "First-class organization, they pushed us to the limit. I work on my game a lot, throughout the off-season, I put a lot of work into it and to be able to come out here and the results happen out on the floor is the ultimate. It's the ultimate. I'm lost for words."

James, who made a jumper with 27 seconds left and two free throws four seconds later to secure the win, was then asked how he performs so well in such high-pressure moments.

"Listen, uh, for me, I can't worry about what everybody say about me," James said. "I'm LeBron James from Akron, Ohio, from the inner city. I'm not even supposed to be here. That's enough. Every night I walk into the locker room, I see a No. 6 with 'James' on the back. I'm blessed, so what anybody say about me off the court, it don't matter. I ain't got no worries."
