AT THE PLATE: Mike Trout and Peter Bourjos each had two hits for the Angels. Bourjos hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Trout had a triple and a double. Trout scored twice, giving him a share of the team lead in that category with eight runs.

ON THE MOUND: Starter Joe Blanton needed only 55 pitches to get through five innings, in which he gave up two runs and five hits. Reliever Ernesto Frieri set down the side in order in his only inning. But left-hander Sean Burnett retired only one of the five batters he faced in his spring debut.

EXTRA BASES: Albert Pujols, who used a courtesy runner when he reached base in his previous start, was allowed to test his surgically repaired right knee on a first-inning fielder's choice and a fifth-inning double before coming out for a pinch-runner.

UP NEXT: Angels vs. Chicago White Sox, 1 PDT on Thursday at Tempe Diablo Stadium. On the air: TV: FS West; Radio: 830.
