Santa Ana homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman Thursday night who they believe may have been pushed out of a truck, along with a small child.
Officers responded about 8 p.m. to the 1600 block of West Edinger Avenue, where they reported finding the woman with major injuries and a young girl nearby. While it's possible the woman may have jumped out, police are also investigating if she was pushed.
“We don’t know if she jumped or if she was thrown,” said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The unidentified woman, described as a Latina between 20 and 30 years old, was transported to a local hospital where she died hours later. The child, who is believed to be 10 months to 1½ years old, remains in stable condition, according to police.
Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored pickup truck flee the scene eastbound on Edinger, Bertagna said. Investigators don’t know whether the woman suffered any injuries before ending up on the street.
