A favorite won the second Breeders' Cup race in a row as Groupie Doll was a repeat winner of the $1-million Filly and Mare Sprint on Saturday at Santa Anita.
The 5-year-old mare took the lead on the far turn, extended it to two lengths entering the stretch and held on for a half-length victory.
Groupie Doll paid $8, $4.60 and $3.40. Judy the Beauty returned $9.20 and $5.40 while Dance Card paid $4.80 to show.
It was Groupie Doll's 11th win in 21 races, almost all between six and seven furlongs. Saturday's race was seven furlongs.
