With clever and smile-inducing greeting cards featuring titles such as "Awkward Dating Card" and the "Aaaaaahhh! You're Having a Baby! Card," it's safe to say items from designer Emily McDowell won't suffer from being boring.

McDowell's line of quirky tea towels are no different, a light way to decorate your kitchen or to give as a gift. (Or, perhaps to throw over a chair for a fun look?) Prints include cheeky recipes -- one proclaims the green smoothie as the food item of choice for Los Angeles -- as well as food photography tips. All are drawn in McDowell's distinct style, with charming typography and bold colors.

The tea towels come in five designs with plans to expand to a 12-piece tea towel (and temporary tattoo) collection at NY NOW in January. The towels available now measure 30 by 30 inches and cost $20 each. They can be found on McDowell's site and shops around Los Angeles.

The tea towels are the latest in our Handmade Holidays Gift Guide, which has included vases, terrariums, coffee drippers, wall hangings, breakfast trays and other home decor. Look for daily picks posted on L.A. at Home through Christmas Eve.
