UCLA tackle Torian White was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of felony sexual assault.
UCLA police responded to a call from an apartment complex near the campus about 3 a.m., the school said in a news release. White, a redshirt sophomore from Inglewood, was arrested a short time later and booked into the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Twin Towers correctional facility. As of late afternoon Tuesday, he was in custody without bail. No charges had been filed.
White was scheduled to have a hearing Monday, but "we have asked for more investigation," said Jane Robinson, public information officer for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
UCLA officials had no comment beyond a statement from Coach Jim Mora: "We are aware of the situation involving Torian White, and we take these accusations very seriously. Torian has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process and student discipline process run their course. Due to the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to discuss this matter further at this time."
