A 26-year-old employee at a Corona daycare center was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting two girls, authorities said.

Miguel Flores of Corona was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14, according to police and jail records. The records indicate he is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

lascivioushe was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Corona police said their investigation began Monday after a guardian reported a possible "inappropriate sexual touching" of an 11-year-old girl while she was in the care of the Bixby Oaks daycare center where Flores worked. The girl told detectives about "specific incidents" that allegedly occurred while she was alone with Flores, authorities said.

Another possible victim who was allegedly "inappropriately touched" by Flores -- an 8-year-old girl -- also provided "specific information" about the suspect, police said.

Corona police Sgt. Kim Velasco said that although the investigation was in the "very, very initial" stages, there was "strong corroborating evidence" backing the girls' accounts of the alleged incidents. She said investigators believe the alleged acts occurred as Flores drove between the daycare center and the children's schools.

Flores was arrested Tuesday after he left the daycare to pick children up at a school, police said.

Authorities said about 80 children are registered to Bixby Oaks and urged parents to talk to their children about Flores.

"We don't know how many victims we have," Velasco said.

Anyone with additional information about Flores was asked to contact Det. Andy Bryant at (951) 817-5789.
