Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Currant, Nev.

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Friday evening, nine miles from Currant, Nev., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:14 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 128 miles from Spring Creek, Nev., 137 miles from Elko, Nev., 148 miles from Cedar City, Utah, and 225 miles from Salt Lake City.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
