Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man early Saturday in front of an apartment complex in Westmont, an unincorporated section of the county.

The man, whose name has not been released, was standing in front of a building in the 1000 block of West 92nd Street when he was shot by someone inside a car driving by, officials said.

Deputies from the South Los Angeles Station were called at 12:17 a.m. and found the wounded man lying in a hallway of the apartment complex, according to the sheriff's department. The victim died at a hospital.

Investigators have no suspect or vehicle information. They encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to call the department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
