Will the St. Louis Cardinals fear the beards when the Boston Red Sox host Game 1 of the 2013 World Series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park?

Or will it be the Red Sox who will be wary when the Cardinals' hitters stride to the batter's box with runners in scoring position?

Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis, who is breaking down the World Series for The Times, believes Boston has the better pitching staff while St. Louis features the better lineup.

What was the tiebreaker for Ellis? He gave the nod to Manager Mike Matheny of the Cardinals, although he admitted it might be National League bias.

Ellis' pick? The Cardinals in six games.

Who do you think will win the World Series?
