The Ohio State football nation held its collective breath after star quarterback Braxton Miller left Saturday's game against San Diego State with a left knee injury. Miller reportedly suffered a  medial collateral ligament sprain and did not return to the game.

The Buckeyes didn’t need Miller to beat up on San Diego State as senior backup Kenny Guiton filled in nicely in a lopsided game.

Ohio State’s national title hopes, however, rest on Miller’s recovery. He led the Buckeyes to a 12-0 record last season. Ohio State was ineligible for postseason play because of NCAA probation.

Ohio State plays at California next week and then hosts Florida A&M before opening Big Ten play Sept. 28 against Wisconsin.
