One suspect was injured and one was arrested after a deputy-involved shooting Saturday in unincorporated Los Angeles, officials said.

L.A. County sheriff’s deputies were in pursuit of a possible reckless driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol when a passenger in the vehicle jumped from the car and ran, according to a statement from the department. The shooting occurred around 10:11 p.m. when deputies confronted the suspect on foot in the 1400 block of Gage Ave.

A loaded handgun was recovered from the scene, the Sheriff’s Department said. The suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment and was in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle eventually yielded to pursuing deputies and was taken into custody after a brief struggle, the statement said.

Charges are pending against the unidentified suspects. No deputies were injured in the incident.
