Apple is offering iTunes customers who purchased "Season 5" of Breaking Bad a $22.99 iTunes credit that can be used to purchase "The Final Season" of the critically acclaimed TV drama.

The Cupertino, Calif., tech company is offering the credit in response to complaints from customers who purchased the Season 5 pass thinking it gave them access to all the episodes in the last season of Breaking Bad. One customer even filed a lawsuit against Apple.

The confusion stemmed from AMC's decision to split the final season of "Breaking Bad" into two parts -- "Season 5" and "The Final Season" -- each with eight episodes. The first half of the final season of the Emmy-winning show aired last year while the second half kicked off last month.

"We apologize for any confusion the naming of 'Season 5' and 'The Final Season' of Breaking Bad might have caused you," Apple said in emails to customers. "While the names of the seasons and episodes associated with them were not chosen by iTunes, we'd like to offer you 'The Final Season' on us by providing you with the iTunes code below in the amount of $22.99."

The credit is being issued to customers who purchased the pass for "Season 5." It does not apply to customers who purchased "The Final Season." The credit doesn't have to be used to purchase "The Final Season." It can be used for other iTunes content.

The final episode of "Breaking Bad" airs Sunday.
