Detroit Lions receiver Nate Burleson suffered a broken arm in a single-car crash early Tuesday and will undergo surgery, the team announced.

Burleson, who leads the Lions with 19 receptions, will not be available for Sunday's game against Chicago and potentially could be done for the season.

The accident happened Interstate 696 when Burleson was driving home from watching "Monday Night Football," according to the Detroit Free Press. Police said alcohol was not involved, according to the Lions.

"We will provide appropriate updates when more information on Burleson's condition becomes available," the Lions said in a statement.

Burleson missed the final 10 games last season after suffering a broken leg in a Monday night game against the Bears in October.
