Football: Crenshaw continues toughest schedule in City Section

September 24, 2013|By Eric Sondheimer

Crenshaw (1-2) has already played Long Beach Poly, Loyola and Fresno Edison. The Cougars' tough schedule continues this week with a home game against Oaks Christian. Then, next week, Crenshaw plays No. 1-ranked St. John Bosco on the road.

"You want to play the best to get better," Crenshaw Coach Robert Garrett said.

Clearly, the Cougars will be one of the best teams in the City Section even if they go 1-4 in their nonleague season.

They've been competitive in their two losses and still have every intention of trying for upset victories over Oaks Christan and St. John Bosco. Last season, Crenshaw did just that against Oaks Christian.

"A few mental errors makes a big difference on the outcome of the game," Garrett said of his team's defeats.

Quarterback Ajene Harris and running back Jacob Knight remain a potent offensive duo.
