A car driver who was killed when his vehicle plunged 150 feet down the side on Mt. Baldy on Tuesday has been identified as a 60-year-old Pico Rivera resident.

Dennis Sandoval was found inside a car near Mt. Baldy and Shinn roads about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz said.

When officers arrived, the vehicle was lodged in an embankment in the Angeles National Forest, Dietz said.

Sandoval was pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
