Amanda Bynes has reportedly changed treatment facilities

September 30, 2013|By Christie D'Zurilla

Amanda Bynes has reportedly changed treatment facilities, swapping the halls of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for a ritzier joint in Malibu.

Bynes made the move to the Canyons Treatment Center about three weeks ago, according to TMZ.

The Bynes family's lawyer told the website that the move was on doctors' advice and that Amanda was making "great strides towards recovery." He said she's getting one-on-one psych care, not treatment for substance abuse.

Sources close to the former actress told TMZ that the 27-year-old was "scared" at UCLA because she was with people in worse condition than she is and rarely left her room. However, word is that she's not interacting much with others at her new location either.

Bynes was committed involuntarily in July after she started a small fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks home. The original 72-hour hold was extended several times, with docs finally in August getting a judge's OK for a long-term hold, as needed.

Bynes' West Hollywood DUI case -- which was sort of the starting point in the actress' antics, which went from amusing to dark over time -- was moved last Tuesday to a mental-health court, where it will be determined if she's fit to stand trial on the accusation.
