Clearly, guard Xavier Su’a-Filo was sold on UCLA. Nothing could sway him, even the Bruins ineptness in 2008.

He watched one of UCLA's greatest debacles and still signed up to come to Westwood.

Su’a-Filo was a senior at Provo Timpview High School when the Bruins came to town in 2008. It was billed as a “game"  but quickly became a BYU highlight show. The Cougars rolled to a 59-0 victory, the Bruins'  worst defensive performance since losing to USC, 76-0, in 1929.

“All I remember was UCLA losing,” said Su’a-Filo, whose Bruins play at Utah on Thursday night. “It didn’t affect my decision. I loved UCLA.”

Utah may be the Bruins' least favorite state. In addition to the BYU game, the Bruins have played at Utah twice since 2007. They have been outscored, 134-12, in those three losses.

“I heard about our history there,” Su’a-Filo said. “I heard it isn’t very good.”
