Masters field gets final practice day after Aussie 'bugs' for dinner

The Masters got back to business Wednesday -- the final chance for practice rounds -- with at least some of the field fortified by a meal of "bugs" the night before.

Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley were the first players off the tee in the morning. Zach Johnson was practicing with amateurs Mike McCoy and Jordan Niebrugge on the back nine.

On Tuesday night, past winners -- including Phil Mickelson and Fred Couples -- gathered for the annual champions dinner. Adam Scott, defending his 2013 title, chose a surf-and-turf menu featuring Moreton Bay "bugs."

That’s Australian for bay lobster.

“I thought it would be nice to have something really local to serve,” Scott said. “Hopefully, the other guys can get past the name and enjoy a nice bit of seafood from home.”

Wednesday dawned clear and sunny, giving the fairways and greens another chance to dry after rain earlier in the week. Augusta National will stage its annual Par 3 tournament at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

“Another beautiful day,” Graeme McDowell said. “Course is magnificent as always.”
