A 52-year-old man was found dead from a single gunshot wound along the 110 Freeway in Highland Park, police said Tuesday night.

The offramp near Avenue 60 was shut down while police investigators gathered evidence, the California Highway Patrol said. The ramp was expected to be closed until about 10 p.m. Northbound traffic was snarled in the area.

Witnesses in the area told officers that they heard four or five gunshots about 5 p.m. near Avenue 60 and the freeway, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The victim was found with a single gunshot wound in a dirt area adjacent to the northbound lanes of the freeway, Officer Sara Faden said.
