MEMPHIS, Tenn. — No Chris Paul for the Clippers. No problem for the Clippers. What figured to be a big challenge against the Memphis Grizzlies, even before Paul was ruled out of the game because of a bruised right kneecap, turned into a 99-73 laugher Monday night at the FedEx Forum. The Clippers won this game with a strong defensive effort in which they held Memphis to an opponent season low in points. They also won because of their quality depth and a collective effort that included Eric Bledsoe's replacing Paul as the starting point guard and scoring 14 points.

In what has already been a season full of milestones, the Clippers added another page to the franchise's record book in Wednesday's 99-93 win over the stubborn Dallas Mavericks. Only this one belongs to Coach Vinny Del Negro, who wasn't even sure he'd have a job at this time last year. Now he's the fourth coach in franchise history to win 100 games - and by doing it in 184 games, he accomplished the feat faster than any coach in franchise history as well. Not that he was celebrating much.

Sixers 103 - Lakers 99 (end of regulation) The Sixers upended the Lakers 103-99 at Staples Center Tuesday night. Jrue Holiday, who missed the December game between the two clubs, scored 26 points and dished 10 assists. The Lakers struggled to deal with Philadelphia's pick and roll much of the night. Spencer Hawes seemed to hit a long jumper every time the Lakers needed a crucial stop. Philadelphia missed four-straight free throws but the Lakers didn't have the time (or ability)

The calendar flipped and it seemed like the Lakers were headed back in time. Remember the final days of the Mike Brown era? The Lakers put on an oldies-but-no-goodies display Tuesday night at Staples Center during a 103-99 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, coming out as flat as leftover champagne and not exactly putting their fans in the mood for party hats after their second defeat in three games. Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol were no-shows for the New Year's Day festivities, combining for 18 points while making only three of 19 shots.

J.R. Smith sank a baseline 21-footer at the buzzer after a Phoenix turnover with a second to play, giving the depleted New York Knicks a 99-97 victory over the host Suns on Wednesday night. Smith's tough jumper from 15 feet had tied it at 97 with 10.6 seconds left. Then, after the turnover, Jason Kidd inbounded to Smith, who got the shot off as he sailed toward the out-of-bounds line. Smith scored 27 and Kidd added 23. Jared Dudley had a career-high 36 points for Phoenix, including two free throws that put the Suns ahead 97-95 with 34.5 seconds to go. New York was without the NBA's No. 2 scorer Carmelo Anthony (hyperextended knee)

The game quickly shifted, as it often does for the Clippers, when L.A.'s reserves took the court to start the fourth quarter. They were given a two-point lead by the starters, a lead that Jamal Crawford, Eric Bledsoe, Lamar Odom, Matt Barnes and Ronny Turiaf turned into a rout. And after it was over, after that fivesome had throttled the Phoenix Suns, 117-99, Saturday afternoon at Staples Center to push the Clippers' winning streak to five straight games, Coach Vinny Del Negro had kind words for his reserves but not his starters.

Maria Bamford shuffles across her Eagle Rock kitchen, shoulders hunched and arms slack at her sides, as a video crew of nearly two dozen mills about. "'Scuse me, 'scuse, um, 'scuse …" comes her meek, trembling voice. The sink is piled high with dirty dishes, the floor strewn with empty pizza boxes, script notes and a mess of filmmaking equipment. Bamford's blind pug, Bert, scurries by just as a smoke alarm goes off. The scent of freshly burnt cookies fills the room. Just a few days before Halloween, Bamford is shooting her newest comedy special, an hour of stand-up in her living room for a rapt audience of two: her parents.

AT&T will begin taking pre-orders for Nokia's new flagship smartphone, the Lumia 920, starting Wednesday. The Windows Phone 8 device will be available for $99 if bought with a new two-year contract. The phone will start selling in stores on Friday. The Lumia 920 was unveiled by Nokia and Microsoft jointly two months ago at an event in New York as the lead phone for Windows Phone 8, the latest version of Microsoft's mobile operating system. Although excitement for the phone was initially high, early reviews of the phone are calling the device too heavy.
