In your editorial you question the ethics of Commissioner Ezell for assisting Antonovich in filming a campaign commercial. I am no longer surprised by unethical behavior by Reagan appointees, however I find the timing of Ezell's partisan activities very interesting. It was only a few months ago that the Reagan Administration found it necessary to prosecute two government employee union leaders for Hatch Act violations. Both of these union leaders had been on leave without pay from their government jobs for many years when their alleged partisan activities took place.

A Soviet diplomat based in Greece defected recently and has come to the United States, the State Department said today. The defection of Sergei Bokhane, first secretary of the Soviet Embassy in Greece, was first reported by the Athens Star, which said he was a member of the Soviet intelligence service GRU.

Emory University said it removed Charles Nemeroff as chairman of its psychiatry and behavioral sciences department after finding that he failed to disclose more than $800,000 in payments from drug maker GlaxoSmithKline as required by conflict-of-interest rules. Nemeroff, department chairman for 17 years, will remain a professor and must follow new restrictions on outside activities, the Atlanta university said in a statement. Emory found Nemeroff was paid by Glaxo for more than 250 speeches from January 2000 to January 2006.
