European aircraft maker Airbus will build a plant for assembling its A320 series of jetliners in the northern Chinese coastal city of Tianjin, the government said Thursday. The decision could result in increased sales in China amid fierce competition from Boeing Co. The National Development and Reform Commission's Tianjin office made the decision recently, the official Xinhua News Agency said, without giving a date.

A JetBlue airliner circled above the ocean for more than two hours and then returned to Long Beach Municipal Airport early Saturday after a warning light erroneously indicated a problem with the landing gear. The warning light came on shortly after New York-bound Flight 216 took off from Long Beach about 10 p.m. Friday, a JetBlue spokeswoman said.
