Alex English, the eighth-leading scorer in NBA history, will sign a free-agent contract with the Dallas Mavericks to fill the hole left by Sam Perkins' departure to the Lakers, the team said Tuesday. Sources said English would get a one-year contract with an option for a second year and that it would be worth more than $1 million per season.
