Allergan Inc. and Peptech Ltd. in England have terminated their agreement to develop a psoriasis treatment. Irvine-based Allergan, an eye-care products company, said Peptech has determined that further work is required to assess the optimal treatment regimen for the product, GMDP.

Allergan Inc. said Thursday that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of the Phoenix-based contact lens care business of British health-care products giant Pilkington Barnes Hind. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Allergan, headquartered in Irvine, develops, makes and markets products for eye and skin care and neuromuscular disorders.

The Irvine research and development arm of eye-care company Allergan Inc. reported a net loss of $17.2 million, or $5.24 a share, for the first quarter, compared with a loss of $10.8 million, or $3.30 a share, for last year's first three months. Quarterly revenue fell to $980,000 from $2.15 million.

Allergan Inc. and Microtech Inc. have settled a patent infringement suit with Chiron Corp.'s optical unit over a device used in cataract surgery. Chiron, based in Emeryville, Calif., said it signed a consent judgment in exchange for a license to the patent for the device, called the Bartell Shooter. Terms were not disclosed. Allergan Medical Optics, a unit of Irvine-based Allergan Inc., and Microtech Inc.

Allergan Inc.: The Irvine health care company reported a third-quarter net loss of $31.4 million, or 48 cents a share, including a restructuring charge of $62.8 million and a charge of $36 million in asset write-offs. A year ago, the company posted net income of $43.6 million, or 66 cents a share. Sales rose 12% to $321.2 million from 287.7 million.
