An American tourist was killed after throwing himself into the engine of a taxiing jetliner at Piarco International Airport, police said. Airports Authority chief Winston Suite said the bizarre death Sunday night was an apparent suicide. Police said Daniel John O'Brien, 31, of Roselle, Ill., scaled an airport wall in the nude, attacked four security guards and stole their four-wheel-drive vehicle.

So, is the U.S. in soccer's World Cup next year in South Africa? Is it all over but the shouting? "No, I don't think we're in yet," U.S. midfielder Benny Feilhaber said Saturday night, after playing a pivotal role in helping the U.S. defeat El Salvador, 2-1, in Sandy, Utah. "Obviously, it's a huge three points for us. I think we needed to get this win, and we did. Trinidad is the next game, and if we can get three points there we'll be a little bit closer." The U.S.-Trinidad and Tobago game is today (3:30 p.m., ESPN Classic)

Muslim militants said they seized the Parliament building in this Caribbean capital Friday and were holding the prime minister and his Cabinet hostage. Imam Yasin Abu Bakr, head of a black rebel group called Muslim Meen, had a station newscaster read a statement on national television in which Bakr announced the uprising and claimed to be holding captive in Parliament the prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, A. Florida State University trustees voted Wednesday to appeal its inclusion on a list of schools that won't be permitted to use American Indian nicknames or logos in NCAA tournaments. The school's Seminole mascot was one of 18 the NCAA said it found "hostile" and "abusive."
