AML Communications Inc. in Camarillo said it has received a contract valued at approximately $560,000 for amplifiers that will be used for broadband wireless services, with an option for an additional $600,000 in business over the next year. Delivery is scheduled to begin later this year. The amplifiers, being purchased by a European-based original equipment manufacturer, will be used to deliver voice and data packet wireless services.

AML Communications Inc. in Camarillo said it has received a $2-million purchase order for multi-carrier amplifiers from an original-equipment manufacturer in the wireless communications industry. The prototypes are scheduled for delivery beginning in the first half of next year, with production deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year. The contract calls for delivery of 100- and 400-watt multi-carrier amplifiers needed to support future wireless Internet-access applications.

AML Communications in Camarillo announced that it has received a follow-up order of $350,000 from PageMart Wireless for paging amplifiers. The contract is the second significant production order for AML's new product line serving the paging market. To date, AML has received $700,000 in orders from PageMart for paging amplifiers.

The former facilities of the Camarillo Daily News, which was taken over by the Ventura County Star, have been sold to AML Communications for $1.3 million. John P. Scripps Newspapers was represented by Daum Commercial Real Estate Services in the sale of the 25,000-square-foot concrete tilt-up building located on two acres of land at 1000 Ave. Acaso in Camarillo. AML, a manufacturer of cellular amplifiers and switching hardware, was represented by CB Commercial Real Estate Group.

AML Communications Inc. in Camarillo has received a $330,000 order for wireless amplifier systems from a major European supplier, with an option for an additional order of up to $230,000. Shipments to the European company--whose name was not disclosed by AML--are expected to begin by the end of the year. "This order represents an opportunity to expand the company's participation in the emerging wireless local loop market," said Jacob Inbar, chairman and chief executive.

AML Communications in Camarillo said it will pay $2.25 million to settle two lawsuits filed in March 1998 in state and federal courts against the company and some current and former officers and directors. Documents requesting preliminary court approval of the settlement have been filed in federal district court. If the court grants approval, a final settlement hearing should be scheduled within the next three to five months, company officials said.

AML Communications of Camarillo reported a net loss of $494,000, or 8 cents per diluted share, for the third quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with a loss of $520,000, or 8 cents per diluted share, a year earlier. Net sales for the quarter were $1.5 million, compared with $2 million for the same period a year earlier.
