One of the aspects of a Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band show that's become ritualized over the years is when he reaches into the audience to pull a fan onstage to reprise a moment in the music video for "Dancing in the Dark,” which originally was handled by then little-known actress Courteney Cox. On Tuesday in Anaheim, that moment took a whimsical turn when Springsteen hoisted up a young girl of maybe 12 to join him near the...

The hundreds of protesters who gathered Sunday outside Anaheim police headquarters remained angry with law enforcement after recent fatal officer-involved shootings sparked unrest in Orange County's largest city, although the tension did not escalate as it had last week. The demonstration stretched long into the afternoon, with more than 200 protesters initially chanting in front of police headquarters and taking over a parking lot where they drew chalk outlines of bodies and wrote messages condemning the police.

You saw him allegedly smash a Roots member's guitar this month on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. " And you no doubt heard about his stunning late-night concert at South by Southwest last weekend. Now Prince is taking his revitalized live show on the road for a West Coast club tour set to launch in mid-April. Appearing Wednesday night in a video chat with the blogger Dr. Funkenberry , the members of Prince's new backing band 3rd Eye Girl said the trek will kick off April 15 in Vancouver and wrap up with gigs May 7 and 8 at the City National Grove of Anaheim.

This post has been updated. See note below for details. When Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's Wrecking Ball tour hit Kansas City, Mo., last month, they opened with Wilbert Harrison's “Kansas City.” Two nights later in Denver, it was Bob Seger's “Get Out of Denver” that got the show rolling. As for the song Springsteen chose to open with in Anaheim on Tuesday night: "Land of Hope and Dreams. " Who would have guessed? But one of the defining aspects of any Springsteen concert is the way his music encourages listeners everywhere to connect with their own hometowns -- both celebrating their gifts and acknowledging their limitations -- thus making any and every town potentially a “Land of Hope and Dreams.” On the flip side, his attention to how people deal when those hopes dwindle or those dreams go unrealized is what has turned Springsteen's concerts into religious experiences for many.

Runs have been hard to come by for the Red Sox in the American League division series. Although Boston was third in the majors in scoring during the regular season, it took the Red Sox 13 innings to get on the scoreboard against the Angels. And that one, lonely fourth-inning run Friday is all they've gotten in the series. In fact, through two games the Red Sox have just two extra-base hits and as many strikeouts (13) as baserunners. Kevin Youkilis , second in the American League with a .413 on-base percentage during the summer, has been on base once in this series.

Four races. Four winners. All former champions. Parity prevails among supercross racing's top riders as the series makes its second and final season stop at Angel Stadium on Saturday night. After reigning champion Ryan Villopoto won the season opener Jan. 7 at Angel Stadium, 2010 champion Ryan Dungey won in Phoenix, two-time champ Chad Reed captured the Dodger Stadium race and another two-time title winner, James Stewart, won last weekend in Oakland. The sport knew it had one of the deepest fields in history this year, but the early results still have surprised.

Orange County prosecutors declined Tuesday to file charges against an Anaheim police officer who shot a 23-year-old parolee in the back, saying that the officer believed the man was going for a weapon when he reached for his waistband. David Raya, 23, was killed by two gunshots to his "rear torso" during a foot chase by Anaheim police Aug. 16, 2011. Prosecutors theorized that the man may have been trying to discard a drug pipe as officers chased him. Prosecutors determined that Anaheim police investigator Bruce Linn was not criminally culpable for Raya's death when he shot him with a rifle and that the officer had acted in self-defense.

Upholstery shop owner Rosa Bobbio said she would fight the city of Anaheim rather than pay a graffiti-related fine. Now city officials say she won't have to. After taggers etched graffiti into the windows of her shop late last year, the city ordered Bobbio to have the tags removed. Bobbio, who paints over the graffiti that taggers regularly spray across her walls, balked and said she couldn't afford to replace the windows. After the etchings remained for months, the city sent her fines and fees of $466.

Yesenia Rojas, vibrant in her purple shawl, sang with a voice so powerful it rose above the rest of the procession as they shuffled down the damp Anaheim sidewalk. " Era mexicana. Era mexicana, " they sang with a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe hoisted high, candlelight and street lamps illuminating their way. " Madrecita de los mexicanos. " The singsong serenade lauds the patroness, the mother of all Mexicans. On this drizzly evening, Rojas led the group down Anna Drive, where she and her family have made their home.
