Citing safety and academic concerns, Dorsey High senior receiver Antonio Carrion said this week he plans to enroll at Granada Hills for the spring semester. Carrion, who also said he will sign an NCAA letter of intent today with San Diego State, will seek an opportunity transfer. He said the transfer request will be based on his desire to escape a negative environment at Dorsey and to improve his grades. Carrion currently is enrolled in intersession classes at Fairfax.

College coaches trying to find Dorsey High standout Antonio Carrion on the football field this fall shouldn't have to look too hard. Carrion, who helped the Dons win the 1991 City Section 4-A Division championship and who many observers believe is the top senior prospect in the City this season, is more than a terrific wide receiver. Coach Paul Knox says he won't hesitate to use Carrion in crucial situations on defense, either at cornerback or safety.

Dorsey 28, Washington 18--Tailback Che Johnson carried 22 times for 202 yards and a touchdown as the Dorsey Dons posted a Southern Pacific Conference victory. Dorsey quarterback Sultan Ali hooked up with receiver Antonio Carrion for two touchdown passes of 17 and 23 yards. Washington quarterback R.B. Bonner threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jim McElroy with 2:31 left in the game, but the Generals fumbled a punt return with one minute left, ending any hopes of a comeback.

The Dorsey Dons had a six-point lead after three quarters, but had to settle for a 20-20 tie with San Pedro in a Southern Pacific Conference game at Jackie Robinson Stadium. San Pedro running back Ambrose Russo scored on a 57-yard run to tie the score with 8:57 left. Kicker Mike Dimassa missed the extra point, which proved costly. Russo, who rushed for 132 yards in 15 carries, also scored the Pirates' first touchdown on a 13-yard run.

Traveling to Las Vegas for its season opener, Dorsey fell victim to a strong offensive attack by Nevada state champion Las Vegas Eldorado in a 39-7 loss. Dorsey fell behind 33-0 midway through the second quarter and couldn't recover. Eldorado scored on each of its five first-half possessions and rolled up 338 yards. Eldorado ended the game with a 471 yards in total offense to Dorsey's 210.

The North-South Shrine All-Star Football Game again will be played without any representatives from the Central Los Angeles area. Fremont quarterback William Yates turned down the Shrine invitation in order to attend the Down Under Bowl, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand. Dennis Fomond, Crenshaw linebacker-fullback, withdrew his name because he had to report to practice at Cal.

Senior quarterback Sultan Ali threw touchdown passes of 39 and 28 yards, both to wide receiver Antonio Carrion, to lead Dorsey to a 21-0 victory over Fairfax in a nonleague game at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Ali completed seven of 12 passes for 106 yards, 96 of which were to Carrion, who had five receptions. The Dons' defense held Fairfax to only 145 total yards and limited Lion quarterback Hasan Muhammad to seven completions in 22 attempts for 56 yards.

Stais Boseman of Inglewood Morningside and Antonio Carrion of Dorsey, two of the highest-regarded players voted to tonight's 42nd annual Shrine all-star football game, have been dismissed for disciplinary reasons. Boseman, a quarterback, and Carrion, a wide receiver, were asked to leave the South team's camp at Occidental College on Wednesday by Coach Mark Paredes of La Puente Bishop Amat.

Five players from City Section 3-A Division champion San Pedro and four players from 4-A Division runner-up Carson have been named to All-City football teams. San Pedro (12-1-1) was represented on the 29-player 3-A team by running back Ambrose Russo, offensive guard Greg Cukrov, defensive end Michael Spelich and defensive backs Bryant Thomas and Bryan Castaneda.
