One man was killed late Friday when a van collided with another vehicle as the van's driver tried to change lanes on South Fairview Street, police said. The van's driver, 28-year-old Antonio Camacho of Santa Ana, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and suspicion of manslaughter, Sgt. Eric Vedborg said.

Four people were injured when two cars collided Monday night in front of the Balboa Bay Club, Newport Beach police said. The incident occurred at 9:19 p.m. on the 1000 block of West Coast Highway when a Jeep Wrangler collided with a two-door Chevrolet, Investigator Howard Eisenberg said. The Chevrolet, driven by Arturo E. Ruiz, 29, of Fontana, was struck in the side by the Jeep, driven by Ann McGlinn, 32, of Newport Beach.

A Dana Point karate instructor has been arrested on suspicion of sexually molesting two of his young male students, authorities said Friday. Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Richard J. Olson said Alfonceo Vito Gaunchii, 44, was arrested Thursday afternoon at his residence in the 24000 block of Sherwood Way, where he teaches about 40 karate students in his garage. Olson said Gaunchii is expected to face charges of one count of oral copulation and three counts of child molestation.

Two men were arrested Monday morning in Irvine after they allegedly burglarized an apartment complex. Police were dispatched to the leasing office of the Turtle Rock Canyon Apartments in the 100 block of Stonecliff Aisle after a resident heard glass breaking about 3:30 a.m. When police arrived, two men ran from the office, ignoring the officers' commands to stop. The men fled in a Pontiac that was reported stolen in Florida on July 1. One of the suspects, Luke LaValley, 29, of Daytona, Fla.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting two women after luring them to his van under the pretense of finding them jobs. Juan Reyes Madrigal, 33, of Santa Ana was booked this week on suspicion of rape and attempted rape after Fountain Valley detectives saw that he and his van matched the descriptions given them by the two women, police said. On Aug. 6, police said, Madrigal met a 25-year-old woman near McFadden Avenue and Sullivan Street in Santa Ana.

A store security guard remained in fair condition Wednesday after being stabbed in the stomach by a suspected shoplifter, police said. Security guard Brian Sorenson, 25, told police he saw a couple steal clothing from the Mervyn's store on Harbor Boulevard in Garden Grove shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Sorenson said they left the store with the merchandise--valued at $150--before he stopped them outside, police said.

A confrontation in a supermarket parking lot turned deadly Wednesday night as stunned patrons watched four suspected gang members swarm and stab a couple, leaving a 28-year-old local man dead and his girlfriend wounded. Michael A. Wasney of San Clemente was stabbed twice in the chest and died in the parking lot of the Albertsons supermarket at 602 N. El Camino Real. His 27-year-old girlfriend, whose name was withheld, was treated for slash wounds to her hand, according to authorities.

A 25-year-old man wanted in Chicago on suspicion of murder was arrested by Orange County sheriff's deputies Thursday when he appeared at Central Municipal Court for a hearing on a charge of assault and robbery in Santa Ana last November. 'Very Surprised' Lt. Dick Olson said Alfonso Moreno was arrested without incident by two sheriff's investigators when he arrived to face the charges lodged against him by Santa Ana police last Nov. 16. "Needless to say, he was very surprised," Olson said.

If Todd Marinovich had been arrested for cocaine possession in Los Angeles County he probably would have been charged with a felony, legal experts said Monday. Using a policy that differs from the rest of the state, Orange County prosecutors filed misdemeanor drug charges against Marinovich, USC's starting quarterback the past two seasons. Marinovich, legal experts in Orange County said, did not receive preferential treatment.

A tip from a family member led to the arrests Sunday of three Indiana suspects in a cross-country crime spree that left four, possibly five people dead, authorities said Wednesday. Police learned that the fugitives were in Orange County after suspect Tracy Lynn Holland, 21, placed a series of desperate phone calls to her cousin and grandmother in Indiana.
