At first glance, Coffee Junction looks like a country store, with large wooden shelves holding a variety of flavored coffee and tea, cups and saucers, mugs, kettles and coffeepots for sale. Yet once you settle in and look around, it becomes apparent that there is much more to this coffeehouse than coffee. THE SCENE: "This place is a reflection of me," said Sharon Benson, the owner of Coffee Junction, whose eclectic coffeehouse could be mistaken for an oversized booth at Venice Beach.

Henriette Wyeth, daughter of American master N.C. Wyeth and a world-renowned painter in her own right, has died. She was 89. Wyeth, the sister of artist Andrew Wyeth and widow of Peter Hurd, died Thursday in Roswell of complications from pneumonia. As the eldest of five Wyeth children, she was a child prodigy, gaining fame for her portraiture when younger brother Andrew was just beginning to draw.

Learn the art of minimum-impact wilderness backpacking and about nature and wildlife on a trip to the northern Colorado Rockies Sept. 5 to 14. Participants will arrive in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to meet trip leaders, who will take hikers along the Continental Divide. Guests will become proficient in basic backpacking skills, including the "leave no trace" wilderness principle. Guides will describe the wildlife and geology of the Rockies.

I can't believe they want coffee. Granted, it is 9:30 a.m. when I pick up my friends Jim and Lenora at the Portland airport. But in the weeks I've anticipated their visit, I've had beer on my brain. FOR THE RECORD: Portland restaurant: An article in Sunday's Travel section on microbreweries in Portland, Ore., misspelled the name of the Indian restaurant Vindalho as Vindahlo. — Jim is a home brewer — or was, back in the dark ages before the microbrewery renaissance. Some of my fondest memories of our long friendship involve conversations over bottles cooled in the crawlspace of his New Mexico house.
