Arts San Diego County

Last spring, when administrators from the city's arts organizations came before the San Diego City Council in an orchestrated effort to ask to maintain funding for the city's Commission for Arts and Culture, they didn't tout the nationally touring plays they brought to town, or their visual arts exhibitions or music programs. They didn't focus on local singers, dancers or artists. They talked instead of their educational outreach programs, many of them in local schools.
