"Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis faces up to five years in Los Angeles County jail after a jury convicted him Monday of nearly half a dozen misdemeanor counts in connection with assaults on three women. Francis, 40, was found guilty after a two-week jury trial on five charges -- three counts of false imprisonment, one count of dissuading a witness from reporting and one count of assault causing great bodily injury -- stemming from the Jan. 29, 2011, incident. "Whether a celebrity or not, you will be held accountable for your misdeeds," City Atty.

Occidental College faculty Monday overwhelmingly voted resolutions of no confidence against the campus attorney and another high-ranking administrator for what critics contended was their inadequate responses to allegations of sexual assaults against women at the Los Angeles liberal arts school. The symbolic vote comes two weeks after a group of Occidental students, faculty and alumni filed a civil rights complaint with the U.S. Department of Education, alleging that the school failed to protect women from sexual assaults over the last few years.

He jumped into a cab and 15 minutes later walked into a studio to tape a talk show with Isaac Asimov, Gene Wolfe, Calvin Trillin and Studs Terkel. "I have just come from physically assualting the CEO of Grosset & Dunlap," he recalls telling them. The man leading a U.S. Air Force program responsible for preventing sexual assault has been arrested on suspicion of drunkenly groping a woman in an Arlington, Va., parking lot, officials said Monday. Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, 41 -- shown with several apparent cuts on his face in a police booking photo -- was charged with sexual battery. He has been removed from his position overseeing the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program pending the outcome of the investigation, Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek told the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles police Thursday identified two suspects who were arrested in connection with an incident in which a man allegedly tried to fire a Tec-9 Mini assault weapon at officers. Arturo Estrada, 18, and Alex Melendez, 25, both of Los Angeles, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, LAPD officials said. Each suspect is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail. LAPD officials said the shooting took place after officers pulled the men over Wednesday evening on a traffic stop in the 1100 block of South West Boulevard in South Los Angeles.

Los Angeles police arrested a teen Wednesday night who allegedly tried to shoot officers with an assault weapon during a traffic stop in West Adams, authorities said. No officers were injured in the shooting, said Officer Christopher No of the Los Angeles Police Department. Police took the teenage suspect, who was not immediately identified, into custody after a search of the neighborhood. Rob Kardashian has been sued in civil court for allegedly assaulting and taking a memory card from a paparazzo who snapped shirtless pictures of him back in March. The suit stems from a March 28 incident between Kardashian and the photographer in the enclosed garage outside a West Hollywood gym. She filed a police report after the encounter. Los Angeles police shot at a teenager in the West Adams district Wednesday evening after he got out of a vehicle during a traffic stop and attempted to fire an assault weapon at them, authorities said. No officers were injured in the shooting, which took place at 6:23 p.m. in the 1100 block of South West Boulevard, LAPD Officer Christopher No said. Police were searching for the teenager, who was wearing a baseball cap, long-sleeve gray T-shirt and dark jeans. LAPD officers conducted a traffic stop when the driver quickly got out of his vehicle and pointed a mini-Tec 9 assault weapon at the officers and tried to fire, No said. The weapon, which is outlawed under California's assault gun law, jammed.

The man suspected of kidnapping and assaulting a 10-year-old Northridge girl will be arraigned Thursday in a Los Angeles court, officials said. Tobias Dustin Summers, 32, was originally expected to be arraigned Friday, but officials said the proceeding had been moved to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Summers, a felon and reputed gang member, was captured Wednesday morning at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Las Misiones, a small community about 200 miles south of the U.S. border in Mexico , authorities said.
