Heavily armed Azerbaijani troops launched an attack on the Armenian village of Maraga in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region this weekend, killing more than 50 Armenians, Armenian officials reported Saturday. "They mercilessly and brutally shot dozens of civilians--women and children among them," said Levon Zhurdyan, spokesman for Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
