Two men walked in through a bank's open back door, found the vault unlocked and made off with a bag containing $24,000, police said. The robbery occurred Monday at Marian Bank, where construction work was being done. Police caught one of the suspects, but the one with the money got away.

A man suspected of a dozen bank robberies was finally tripped up when he left his wallet at the scene of one of his heists, authorities said. A federal grand jury returned a 12-count indictment Wednesday against Joseph Saunders. Prosecutors say he took about $13,000 from banks in the city between June and August.

Two men wearing animal costumes held up a small-town bank at gunpoint, then escaped in a van painted with teddy bears and storks. The men walked into the County National Bank on Thursday afternoon carrying a sawed-off shotgun and an automatic handgun, state police said. One man wore a gorilla suit and the other had on a wild-boar mask. They took an undetermined amount of money and fled in the painted van.
