Topping any L.A. area home sales last year, a 9.5-acre estate in Malibu owned by billionaire Howard Marks and his wife, Nancy, has sold in the $75-million range in an off-market deal. The exact sales price and sales date have not been disclosed. It can be several weeks or more before a transaction appears in the public records. The property includes a 15,000-square-foot main house of eight bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, two guesthouses, a gym, a swimming pool and more than 300 feet of beach front.

Songwriter, singer and former "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi has sold her home in Studio City for $6.3 million. Built in 1923, the 7,600-square-foot French chateau-style house was renovated and expanded by DioGuardi and her husband, home builder Mike McCuddy. The five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home sits on 3 acres with an infinity pool and a hot tub. Features include a 23-foot-tall stone fireplace, herringbone walnut floors and a sauna. DioGuardi, 42, was on the panel of "American Idol" for two seasons starting in 2009 and a judge on "Platinum Hit" in 2011.

Actor-screenwriter Billy Bob Thornton has sold his estate in Beverly Hills for $8 million. Built in 1929, the 11,012-square-foot Spanish-style mansion retains its period details and features a two-story living room, a recording studio, a gym, a library, nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The walled and gated property of more than a half-acre includes a swimming pool, a spa, fountains and a paddle tennis court. Thornton, 57, directed, wrote and starred in the movie "Sling Blade" (1996)

Actor Ethan Suplee has sold his Studio City house for $1.6 million. Once home to Jane Fonda , the country English-style residence of 3,787 square feet was built in 1951 and sits on nearly an acre of wooded grounds with a detached office/guesthouse, a gym and a swimming pool. There are three fireplaces, seven bedrooms and three bathrooms. Suplee, 36, appeared in the action-adventure film "Unstoppable" (2010) and starred in "My Name Is Earl" (2005-09). He starred last year with Mariel Hemingway in "Rise of the Zombies" and appeared in the series "Men at Work" and "Raising Hope.

In the L.A. housing market, "gangnam style" appears to lose some of its trend-setting meaning in the translation. Psy, the South Korean musician of "Gangnam Style" video fame, and his wife, Hye-yeon Yoo, have bought a place in a 1989 building in Westwood for $1.249 million. The Blair House condo features city views, high ceilings, a den, a balcony, two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The contemporary complex offers a saltwater swimming pool, a tennis court, a gym, a doorman and concierge services.

When singer Nancy Sinatra put a Santa Monica compound she owned on the market last month, it appeared her boots were ready to do some walkin' — to borrow from the title of her '60s hit. But it seems they ran instead. Sinatra, the daughter of legendary entertainer Frank Sinatra and his first wife, Nancy, sold the property in 16 days for $5 million. The asking price was $4.895 million. The Cape Cod-inspired home and guesthouse sits on a nearly half-acre flat lot off a cul-de-sac.

"Ghost Whisperer" star Jennifer Love Hewitt has sold a house in Toluca Lake for $2.15 million. The traditional-style house, built in 1952, features a flexible floor plan, an office, six bedrooms, six bathrooms and 5,921 square feet of living space. The quarter-acre property has a swimming pool and a patio with a built-in bar. Hewitt, 33, starred in the supernatural drama "Ghost Whisperer" from 2005 to 2010 and stars as a single mother and masseuse in "The Client List. " She will be the executive producer of a modern version of "Pride and Prejudice" for Lifetime.

Actress and singer Connie Stevens has listed her longtime Westside estate for $18 million. Melissa Marr's alarm pierces the silence in her room at the homeless shelter. 5:40 a.m. In the darkness, she leans over and kisses her 3-year-old daughter, rolls out of the bed and wakes her 8-year-old son, still snuggled up in the mismatched floral sheets next to his sister. Marr slips on socks and sneakers, pulling the yellow laces tight with double knots - a must for the road. "I love you, Mommy," Jakob calls out as his mother opens the door to their room. "Love you too," she says.
