The state's largest four-day celebration honoring civil rights leader Cesar Chavez will begin today with a carnival. The sixth annual festival will include mariachi music, folk dancers, food, games and a parade Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the corner of Florence and Eastern avenues, ending at Ford Park. Bell Gardens Councilwoman Maria Chacon said she helped launch the festival in 1994 to give the youth in the largely Latino community a nonviolent role model to emulate.
