Miley Cyrus' parents are staying married. Again. Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus both filed for divorce -- he in Nashville, she in L.A. -- in mid-June. It wasn't Billy Ray's first filing, however. He'd done so once before, in October 2010, but the couple reconciled that time too. "We both woke up and realized we love each other and decided we want to stay together," they said Monday in a statement obtained by People. PHOTOS: Celebrity splits of 2013 "We both went into couples therapy something we haven't done in 22 years of being together, and it's brought us closer together and really opened up our communication in amazing ways.

There are things that don't make sense, and then there are things so bewildering that they require visual proof. Billy Ray Cryus' remake of “Achy Breaky Heart” is both. Cyrus, for reasons unclear, decided to issue a remix to his 1992 smash. And the result is, to be generous, an absolute mess. “Achy Breaky 2,” takes the country pop tune,  which has  justly been ranked by VH1 as one of the most awesomely bad songs ever, and inexplicably reimagines it as a club rap stomper.

Billy Ray Cyrus' reaction to daughter Miley's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August is not what many daughters could expect from many daddies. He's totally chill about the whole thing, he told Piers Morgan on CNN on Thursday. "Miley harnessed into something very special," said Papa Cyrus. "She's just Miley, she's an artist, she's real -- I think that what's happened over the years is Miley has been reinventing her sound. She's evolving as an artist herself, and I think that all of what everyone is calling controversy now, that's still my Miley.

Billy Ray Cyrus was nowhere to be seen on the MTV mini-documentary "Miley: The Movement" that aired Wednesday night. But Miley's dad was on "Arsenio" on Thursday night, and he revealed that he's a proud, proud papa. In fact, he suggested that Miley's twerking extravaganza might have been influenced by Johnny Cash, of all people. Papa Cyrus told Arsenio, "I was so glad to let the world hear Miley's side of the story. Miley is very smart. She's thought this thing out in advance. " She's "going back to her roots.

It's showdown time for Billy Ray Cyrus. Mr. Achy Breaky Heart's follow-up to his blockbuster debut is due from Mercury Records on June 22--and bets are already being taken on whether it'll establish him as a legitimate country force or simply as the Vanilla Ice of country music.

Garth Who? At least for one week Brooks isn't the country singer everyone's buzzing about. That distinction belongs to a 30-year-old Kentuckian, Billy Ray Cyrus, whose album "Some Gave All" debuted explosively on the Billboard magazine pop chart at No. 4. His hot single, "Achy Breaky Heart," a real down-home country tune, is No. 12 on the pop singles chart, which is motivating all these fans to buy the album. Meanwhile, Kris Kross' "Totally Krossed Out" album reclaimed the No. 1 position.

"What a day for a boy from Flatwoods, Ky.!" Billy Ray Cyrus is practically floating as he steps into a Westwood hotel elevator, chattering at about 100-good-ol'-boy-homilies-a-minute as he recounts what he'd have his guest believe has been the best day anyone could ever have. He may have a persuasive case. "It's not every day I wake up, go to the Shrine Auditorium for the American Music Awards rehearsal and find my seat is right behind the ones for Michael Jackson and Liz (Taylor)!

The country singer is on the phone from Dothan, Ala., population 48,750. Tomorrow he will move on to Dadeville, population 3,263. This backwater itinerary is typical--covering locales that country performers routinely ply to keep the grass-roots soil of their core support properly seeded. The singer is gracious and humble, talking with a deep, affable drawl and dotting his answers with words like "yessir" that bespeak a proper small-town upbringing.

Miley Cyrus spent a good portion of her adolescence playing two people on a television show, so it makes sense that her new album has something like a split personality. "Bangerz" is the fourth studio disc by the former star of the Disney Channel's hugely successful "Hannah Montana," which if you don't remember, featured Cyrus - the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus - as both a normal teenager and her pop-star alter ego. But if Cyrus at 20 is already an old hand at making records, she's new to the experience of calling her own shots, and on her first project since exiting the House of Mouse she appears determined to break in that license - at least when she's not second-guessing its powers.

Nothing Miley Cyrus does shocks us anymore. No, seriously, nothing does. We just read all the way through her new Rolling Stone interview - in which she gets the bottoms of her feet tattooed, drinks booze underage in a club, cusses nearly nonstop and jumps out of a perfectly good airplane - and the impression we're left with is a distinct "meh. " Did we mention the 20-year-old poses topless for the cover? Yeah, that too. But the piece did find her dishing on some of the men in her life, and that was kind of interesting.

Is there anything left to say about Miley Cyrus at the VMAs? Besides, y'know, "Eeew," "Will someone please get that song out of my head" and "Where do I get one of those foam fingers for Halloween"? Probably not, but we're not letting that stop us. Celebrity reaction: Not much, unless you count Nick Cannon declaring, "Remind me to never let my kids into showbiz... Thanks," and Brooke Shields exclaiming on the "Today" show Monday that "I was Hannah Montana's mother. I don't approve.

Twenty years ago Billy Ray Cyrus was feasting on the fruits of his debut album, “Some Gave All,” which spawned the hit single “Achy Breaky Heart” and became the biggest-selling disc of 1992. On Friday night the country singer played a concert for approximately 200 people at the Bootleg, a funky indie-rock club near Echo Park. Yet this wasn't a case of a has-been music star sopping up the dregs of his residual fame. (Or at least it wasn't that entirely.) Cyrus, 51, was launching what he referred to as a world tour with his new band, Good Bad Habit, in front of a rowdy crowd populated by friends and family, including his daughter Miley.
