Chris Morrow, vice president at Gemini, said his company began launching other virtual reality game projects after San Francisco-based Visions of Reality project stalled earlier this year. The assets of California fruit and vegetable grower Sun World International Inc. have been acquired in a Bankruptcy Court auction by private investment firm Black Diamond Capital Management for $127.8 million. Sun World, based in Coachella and Bakersfield, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2003. The subsidiary of the water company Cadiz Inc. owns about 17,000 acres in the San Joaquin and Coachella valleys, where it grows watermelons, table grapes, citrus and other produce.

A San Francisco company's plans to build a chain of virtual reality entertainment centers, including one at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, have gone awry because of a dispute with the firm hired to manage the first project. Visions of Reality's initial arcade-like center, which would have used computer simulation technologies known as virtual reality, was to have opened last December. But legal and financial snags have halted work on the Fashion Island project.
