Cyber Monday brings out the strangest hotel bargains, but we're not complaining. These two Manhattan hotels make a winter trip to the Big Apple a bit more affordable. But watch the timing: One deal has a tiny booking period, while the other is wide open. The Duane Street Hotel in New York’s fashionable Tribeca neighborhood¬† plans to have a 29-minute sale on Cyber Monday (Nov. 29). Whew, set your stopwatches now! From 1:29 p.m. to 1:58 p.m. EST (10:29 a.m. to 10:58 a.m. PST)

What can you get in Las Vegas for less than $50? A room at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, if you play your cards right. The hotel is offering rooms starting as low as $45 from now through February for those who make reservations this month. The deal: This offer will work well for those who plan to spend the holidays in Las Vegas and want to save a bundle. Rooms go for $45, $65 and $85 on selected nights for a casino tower room with a king-sized bed. Tax and the daily $22 resort fee are extra, and some blackout dates apply.

"You only turn 40 once," Southwest Airlines says on its online sale page. Really? I feel as though Southwest has been ballyhooing birthday promotions forever -- not that I'm complaining. The airline Tuesday launched an autumn airfare sale with one-way fares of $40, $80 and $120 depending on how far you fly. But think fast because the offer is good only until Thursday. And be patient -- Southwest's website may be slow to upload. The deal: The Celebrating 40 Years With $40 Fares One-Way sale works this way: $40 for short flights (up to 450 miles)

Winter airfare sales are such a distraction at this time of year. Aren't we all supposed to be holiday shopping? Nevermind. Check out what could be good savings on fares for winter or spring break. Would you believe $19 to Las Vegas? JetBlue Airways: Las Vegas is the sweet spot for this airfare sale. The airline's website said Tuesday that JetBlue will fly five flights daily between Long Beach and Las Vegas and, for a limited time, will charge just $19 plus tax each way. Last week, no-frills newcomer Allegiant Air promoted a $40.68 round-trip fare on the same route to celebrate its new service, which starts Dec. 15. It will be interesting to see how this Vegas airfare war plays out – hopefully with more low fares for fliers.

JetBlue has lowered the price on Las Vegas to $29 each way from Long Beach. And Frontier offers $84 fares each way from Los Angeles to Denver. Act quickly if you want a seat because these sales end Thursday night -- that's tonight. [ Updated at 11:09 a.m. July 7: Virgin America is also cutting fares, mainly for autumn, with a Quadruple Play sale that lasts only until 4 p.m. Pacific time Thursday (July 7)

Cyber Monday shopping starts today with a special offer from Hyatt Santa Barbara . If the name doesn't ring a bell, that's because Hyatt only recently took over the 80-year-old ocean-front Hotel Mar Monte at 1111 E. Cabrillo Blvd. Some guest rooms, the lobby and the pool and deck area have been refurbished; other rooms are in the middle of a $9-million renovation expected to be completed in 2012. For those who want to check out the new look, the hotel takes off 25% on room rates for reservations made on Cyber Monday.
